ABOUT THE RETREAT
With 30 years of yoga & anatomy experience and a profound love and fascination for all things wild; Jo brings a unique touch to her retreat. Deep knowledge and a curiosity for the workings of both mind and body mean that her classes are inspiring and informative. They are also a lot of fun.
Not taking things too seriously, being in the moment and accepting what is, are super important. Jo believes in thoughtful consideration, awareness and jolliness. The WildYogis movement & mindfulness practice is laced with these concepts. Exploring how your body feels & moves with kind acceptance. The aim – to expand your understanding of your body, recognise unhelpful movement patterns & cultivate a sense of deep contentment and well-being.
AND it doesn’t stop at the shala…
Jo believes that what we learn on our mats gives us fundamental insight into how we build quality relationships with ourselves and others – and by others she means all living beings. These practices encourage us to appreciate and connect with what surrounds us. The endless African sky, the vibrant colours of a bee-eater, the intricate markings on a tortoise shell. We recognise and feel inter-linked with the beauty of the wild. It inspires us and it gives meaning to existence.
7 years ago, Jo was diagnosed with lyme disease. The lack of understanding about the condition and therefore any useful support meant she had to find a way back to health along a less traditional route. Taking a holistic approach to well-being; combining nutrition, breathwork, relaxation, movement and many other non-invasive therapies, she became symptom free in a relatively short period of time. This journey has led her to recognise how vital it is that we consider our well-being on a holistic level. That this is about balance, about considering not just our physical wellness but our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being as well. There will be support, advice and workshops on wellness throughout the retreat.
