Legal

Terms.

The short version of what applies when you browse this site, book a retreat, or stay at the camp. The full General Terms & Conditions and the on-arrival Liability Waiver are provided as part of every retreat contract.

1. Who we are

Munga Plains is operated by three related entities:

  • Munga Expeditions AG, Schindellegistrasse 73, 8808 Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland — the contracting party for retreat bookings.
  • Munga Safari Lodge (Pty) Ltd, Botswana — the lodge operator on the ground.
  • Munga Safaris (Pty) Ltd, Botswana — the safari and activity operator.

References to “Munga Plains”, “we” or “us” on this website cover all three and their directors, employees, guides, drivers, contractors, and representatives.

2. Using this website

By accessing this website you agree to use it only for lawful purposes. Content, photography, and design on the site are copyright Munga Plains and its licensors; please don’t reproduce or republish material without permission.

The site is provided as-is. We try to keep information current, but can’t guarantee availability, accuracy, or that the site will be free of errors at any given moment.

3. Booking a retreat

A booking is confirmed only when a written offer has been signed and the applicable deposit has been received. The detailed payment schedule, cancellation tiers, force majeure provisions, and service specifications sit in the General Terms & Conditions (GTC) shared with retreat leaders directly at booking.

If a retreat you’re interested in is listed here but hosted by a visiting teacher, your booking is with that teacher or their platform (typically WeTravel). Their terms apply to the booking; ours apply to the stay at the camp.

4. Liability in the wilderness

Munga Plains operates in a remote wilderness environment with inherent risks: wild animals, uneven terrain, weather, dust, and limited access to medical facilities. By staying with us or joining any activity, you acknowledge these risks and agree to follow the safety instructions given by our guides and staff.

On arrival, every participant signs a detailed Liability Waiver and Indemnity Agreement covering game drives, walking activities, food allergies, property, media consent, and related points.

We carry the responsibilities a reasonable operator should, and act with care. Beyond that, and except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct, we disclaim liability for injury, illness, loss, or damage arising from the inherent risks of wilderness travel.

5. Third-party services

Some parts of the experience are provided by third parties: flights, airport-side accommodation, specific activities, or the booking platform for public retreats. Their own terms apply to the services they provide. We coordinate, but we are not the contracting party for those third-party services.

6. Privacy

How we collect and handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

7. Governing law

Use of this website and the booking contract are governed by Swiss law. Disputes arising out of the booking contract are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Lausanne, Switzerland, without prejudice to Munga Plains’ right to bring action at the client’s domicile. The on-arrival Liability Waiver is governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana.

Before any legal action, we’ll try to resolve disputes amicably. For unresolved cases, Swiss-resident clients may contact the independent Ombudsman for the Swiss travel industry at ombudsman-touristik.ch.
